Beer Pong - A National Pass Time

At one time you could have a drink without playing a game. Now a days you can't drink without turning it into something competitive. From playing darts and pool at a bar to playing card games at home, drinking has become a world wide gaming event. And at the head of it all is none other then beer pong.

I recently entered a beer pong league at a bar. I guess I never realized how competitive I was with it until the first night of the league. I went 0-2 that night and was pissed at the world. After a few pitcher's later I kind of realized how pathetic I was for being upset. But it wasn't just me...

In the other room where the games were being held you can hear the roar of cheers from the winning teams, the grunts and moans of a missed shot, and you can feel the tears hit the ground after a painful loss. I think back on it now when I was a kid and how desperately I always tried to win trophy's for basketball or football. Now those goals have changed to winning beer drinking trophies.

Being in Florida we could play on a regular basis. And even though I was playing with players from around the world, most of the rules were the same. We would tell each other of our epic victories and gut wrenching losses. We give play by play details on an unforgettable shot we made in that game, just like if we hit a game winning shot or threw a late touchdown pass to win it all.

I know this might sound silly. But I'm a drinker. I'm a competitor. I'm a Beer Pong Player. And I'm proud to carry on the tradition.
